Artem Ovcharenko in The Art of Movement Book
- Details
Artem Ovcharenko was chosen as a model to present The Bolshoi Ballet in Ken Browar and Deborah Ory's book "The Art of Movement".
The couple of renowned American photographers brought the world another celebration of the art and athleticism of dance in their stunning collection containing hundreds of breathtaking photos of more than 70 dancers from American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Martha Graham Dance Company, Boston Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, the Royal Ballet, The Bolshoi Ballet, and many more. "The Art of Movement" is an exquisitely designed, beautifully produced book that captures the movement, flow, energy, and grace of many of the most elite dancers in the world. These are the artists, from all walks of life, who are defining dance today. Here they are frozen in time in the most exquisite poses, and yet there's a feeling of movement in every photograph that makes them appear to be dancing across the pages. Accompanying the photographs are intimate and inspiring words from the dancers, as well as from choreographers and artistic directors, on what dance means to them.
Ken Browar is a renowned fashion and beauty photographer whose work has appeared in Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, and many other European fashion magazines. His passion for dance began when he lived in Paris and photographed dancers of the Paris Opera Ballet. Deborah Ory has been a dancer since age seven. She began her photography career while injured as a dancer, photographing rehearsals. She has worked as a photo editor at House & Garden and Mirabella, and has shot editorial work for Self, Health, Martha Stewart Living, and Real Simple. Ken and Deborah first met Artem during the Bolshoi ballet tour to the US in 2014 and instantly made friends with him. The photo-session for the NYC Dance Project resulted in series of beatiful photos; one of them became the background image for our website. In April 2016 they met in the the New York for another photo shoot. In his interview Artem said: "I believe that art has no boundaries! Our American tour was a mission of sorts: it was important to show that we, the Russian people, have the same sorrows and joys, that we are capable of strong emotions and high art, can expose the beauty of what we have inside us and are willing and eager to share it with the world."
