Yesterday night Artem Ovcharenko made his debut as Kostya in John Neumeier’s 'The Seagull' alongside with Alina Cojocaru.

What does it mean to be in love? What does it mean to be an artist? What does it mean to be an artist who is in love?.. Artem tried to answer these questions in his debut on John Neumeier's "The Seagull" at Hamburg Opera. He danced Kostya, a revolutionary choreographer, who was in love with Nina (splendid Alina Cojocaru), an aspiring dancer, in this choreographic adaptation of Anton Chekhov's play, written in 1895. It was a great success!

Artem has just posted on his Instagram page:

"Tonight, I made my debut on “The Seagull” and I am so grateful to John Neumeier for giving me the opportunity to dance one of the leading parts in this beautiful ballet. Thank you to John for his confidence in me. Thank you to all the Hamburg ballet company for their warm support. Thank you to Alina Cojocaru for this small life we have lived together tonight. Thank you to my patient coach Ivan Urban for hammering this complex ballet into my head and body in such a short time. This evening was one of the happiest events in my life."

Those who missed this stunning debut, please, join Hamburg company in their upcoming tour to Vienna. Alina and Artem's "The Seagull" is scheduled for May 7 and 8.
